Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) for Homeland Security and Analytical Instruments

Silicon photomultipliers from First Sensor are state-of-the-art solid-state silicon detectors with single photon sensitivity.

Silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) are an effective alternative to photomultiplier tubes. The key benefits of these detectors are very good timing performance, high gain and low operating voltage. They have a high integration level and are insensitive to magnetic field. The detectors are improved for Near Ultraviolet (NUV) or red, green and blue (RGB) light detection with peak sensitivities at 420 nm or 550 nm. The Chip Scale Package (CSP) offers a cost-effective solution with an edgeless SiPM die to capitalize on the active area.

Main applications include nuclear medicine, high energy physics, medical imaging, homeland security and analytical instruments.

Special Features

  • Light detection from 350 to 900 nm
  • Single photon sensitivity
  • Dark count rate <100/<200 kHz/mm2
