The CATRAC® from Ametek is used as cable carrier on different types of machinery as a means of safely and efficiently transferring power, air, electrical, or fluid (or a combination of these) to equipment in operation. The CATRAC is designed to be maintenance free and to protect hoses and cables from wear, abrasion, and twisting. A wide range of options are available.
The cable carrier’s center pivot design enables smoother cycling and minimal hose movement. The CATRAC design provides “no pinch points” to ensure operator safety. Regular side links are high tensile steel for maximum strength. Steel CATRAC is zinc plated with a yellow dichromate dip for excellent corrosion resistance. Optional materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, and nylon are available.
Ametek also offers a series of Mill Duty CATRAC cable carriers that is employed in rugged applications and environments such as steel mills. These CATRACs offer a box beam type carrier for highest strength and stability. Spring-loaded rods provide customers easy access to hoses and cables. They also eliminate the concern of fitting sizes that must pass through the (fixed) compartment opening on a box beam style carrier. Hardened shoulder bolts and locknuts (called bolted construction) are suggested for use in harsh environments. The CATRAC is manufactured in such a way that pieces or sections can be replaced or removed in the field.
Ametek’s CATRAC product offers: a range of sizes from 2” to 14” high links, carrier options from welded carriers, removable pipe, split aluminum bar carriers, rod carriers, spring-loaded rods, vertical pins, custom radius “M” dimension (including double radius), double deck, custom and special widths, including single widths, double widths, triple widths, etc. The company offers a range of support systems from a single stationary roller support to a full CATRAC carriage support system.
Ametek provides the optimum system to match customer’s needs either with its standard cable carriers and options, or by means of a custom-designed system. Besides Ametek’s standard systems used in a linear motion, the company can also provide customers with double radius side mounted systems.
