The NOx- sensor is a brilliant tool for on-line measurement in experiments where the resolution of time and concentrations are important. The sensitivity is good (down to below 0.5 µM) and has a good stability over days and the sensor works in full oceanic salinity.
Compared to conventional NO3-/ NO2- analyzing systems (HPLC and ion chromatography) the Unisense nitrogen compound biosensor is very easy to operate and needs no complicated start-up procedures or detailed ‘know-how'. Coupled with its high sensitivity, the biosensor is therefore an attractive, low-cost alternative for determining NOx- or NO2- concentrations in discrete water samples.
