MTS Systems Displays E-Series and R-Series Linear Position Sensors at NPE 2012

MTS Sensors, a provider of position sensors and mechanical testing systems, has revealed that the company will showcase its latest innovations, including the R-Series and the E-Series Temposonics sensors at booth number 4775 at NPE International Plastics Showcase being held in Florida from 2 to 5 April, 2012.

R-Series Temposonics Sensors

The product offerings of MTS Systems will enable manufacturers to develop plastics machinery that offer higher performance levels with higher accuracy, faster measuring speed and improved controller interfaces. The magnetostrictive linear position sensors are ideal for use in injection molding and blow molding machines.

The technical marketing manager of MTS Sensors, Matt Hankinson stated that even small improvements in specific features can positively and significantly impact the production and impact profitability in large-scale operations. Hankinson added that the additions made to the R-Series sensors will allow operators to reduce waste and enhance line speeds through reliable and accurate position feedback.

The controller interfaces include R-Series with SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) offering real-time synchronization and high-speed measurement cycles; R-Series with EtherCAT output offering an Ethernet interface with 100 µs measurement cycles; and R-Series with IP/Ethernet output enabling reduction of overall system and cabling cost at higher performance.

The E-Series sensors offer easy-to-use, durable and reliable magnetostrictive sensors to manufacturers. The IP69K-compliant, compact E-Series sensors offer a measurement range of 50 to 2540 mm.

The sensors and systems developed by MTS have applications in woodworking, hydraulic cylinders, motion simulation, metal forming, steel manufacturing, process industries, glass cutting, adhesive dispensing, assembly automation, metal production, food & beverage, and paper & textile industries.
