Flexpoint Sensor Systems, a supplier of thin film sensing technology to several industries, including consumer products, industrial controls, medical and automotive, is in discussion with a major industrial firm related to a security mat that employs Bend Sensors to monitor and distinguish traffic flow inside and outside of buildings or sites.
This sensing technology can be used in about 12,000 U.S. government properties, several hundreds of sites and other heavy traffic areas.
Trials have shown that the security mat sensor can differentiate foot traffic and other aspects easily. In addition, weight measurements can be adjusted to offer an additional layer of data for safety and identification purposes. For example, when a person is entering into a building with an unusually heavy load, the mat sensor can identify it and inform the user. Thus, the mat technology can offer fine-tuned data to directly track a building or site traffic.
As the algorithms used in the mat can be customized for a wide range of applications, the innovative technology can be used everywhere ranging from retail shops to government buildings.
Clark Mower, President of Flexpoint, stated that the use of their Bend Sensor technology with the security mat delivers an exclusive solution to companies looking forward to move ahead in the industry.
