Arizona’s Phoenix Children's Hospital has signed a 5-year contract with Masimo to use the Masimo SET Pulse Oximetry technology.
The hospital’s Respiratory Care Director, Christine Tenaglia, said that Masimo SET Pulse Oximeters provide accurate values even when used on patients who are restless or with low perfusion. She also said that these oximeters minimize the occurrence of false alarms, which enhances the efficiency of the caregivers in the hospital which witnesses a large inflow of young patients every day. Christine Tenaglia also stated that the hospital takes utmost care to provide efficient services to all the young patients.
The Masimo SET Pulse Oximetry devices to be used by Phoenix Children's Hospital include the Radical-7 Pulse CO-Oximeter and the Rad-87 pulse oximeter, which have been clinically tested and verified. The Radical-7 can be used as a bedside or handheld co-oximeter, while Rad-87 is a bedside monitor. These oximeters enable clinicians to monitor saturation levels of blood oxygen in a fast and accurate manner.
Masimo SET Pulse Oximetry is a continuous and non-invasive patient blood monitoring system by which life-threatening circumstances can be effectively detected and proper treatment options can be worked out. The blood constituents that can be monitored using Masimo’s pulse oximetry technology include Pleth Variability Index, total hemoglobin, methemoglobin, respiration rate, carboxyhemoglobin, perfusion index, acoustic respiration rate and pulse rate.
The Phoenix Children's Hospital is also planning to adopt the Masimo rainbow technology which helps to monitor total hemoglobin in a non-invasive manner. The hospital has 6 Centers of Excellence, and offers specialized care in the field of pediatric medicine.
