Precision sensor manufacturer Micro-Epsilon this month celebrated the 10th Anniversary of its UK business. To commemorate this important milestone, Micro-Epsilon UK Ltd held a 10th Anniversary celebration event on 1st and 2nd August at the company’s UK offices in Birkenhead, Cheshire. Guests included staff from Micro-Epsilon’s headquarters in Germany, as well as suppliers, customers, family and friends.
The event began with a tour of Micro-Epsilon UK’s new offices in Birkenhead, where guests were able to see products in action in the new demonstration area, followed by a presentation on the history and achievements of the company from Chris Jones, Managing Director of Micro-Epsilon UK. Guests then took a tour of the U-534 U-Boat story, before taking the ‘Ferry across the Mersey’ to Liverpool harbour, where staff and guests enjoyed dinner at a city centre hotel. Saturday saw celebrations draw to a close with an open top bus tour of Liverpool.
Although Micro-Epsilon was set up in Hanover, Germany in 1968, it was not until 2004 that the UK arm of the business was established as a limited company. Chris Jones, who has been Managing Director of Micro-Epsilon UK since 2004, comments: “It’s amazing when you look back over the last decade at the performance of the UK business, which has grown so rapidly – from a one-man office in Liverpool 10 years ago, to a multi-million pound business with a factor 20 growth.”
“And to think that we’ve achieved all of this despite strong competition in the UK and despite a prolonged economic recession. This really does demonstrate what an incredible effort our staff have put in over the last 10 years and how our customers continue to value so highly both our products and our people,” adds Jones.
Micro-Epsilon UK recently moved into brand new office premises, which is more than double the size of its previous offices. The new facilities include a training room, product demonstration area and precision measurement zone to enable accurate measurement of customer samples quickly and efficiently. These investments will help position the company for further growth over the next 10 years.
Micro-Epsilon UK is now working with customers from virtually every industry, including market sectors such as motorsport, automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, biomedical and healthcare. As Jones concludes: “With a growing importance in UK manufacturing and more specifically Advanced Manufacturing, high performance sensors and systems from Micro-Epsilon are well positioned to service these industries in the UK. Combined with the continual development of innovative and measurement systems by the Micro-Epsilon group, the next 10 years should be even more successful for the company.”
Micro-Epsilon’s comprehensive range of products now includes sensors for displacement, distance, position and length measurement, 2D/3D laser sensors for dimensional measurements, colour sensors, non-contact temperature sensors, thermal imaging cameras, and full turnkey measurement and inspection systems.
