Please could you tell me about Fraunhofer?
We are from the Fraunhofer Institute in Duisburg, an Institute for microelectronic circuits and systems. Our newest developments are in the field of lighter cameras which can be used in 3D imaging for future automotive and autonomous driving applications. We have infrared cameras for thermal analysis and also very sensitive read-out electronics for sensors like accelerometers and inductive proximity sensors.
Are there any products that you are showcasing today?
Yes definitely. We have our 3D time-of-flight camera for light applications such as autonomous driving. We have our own CMOS process, where we can develop and produce unique image sensors. This allows us to make extremely sensitive sensors with powerful vision – an important factor for sensors to be used in autonomous cars.
What makes your products unique?
There's a big difference between our products and our competitors. We do not normally deliver products to the open market, but instead develop customer-specific products. This means what we are showing at SENSOR+TEST is purely demonstrative, showing examples of what we can do for the customer
What industries do you serve?
The automotive industry is a big customer of ours but we also work a lot with industry in the development of industrial machines. We are trying to go in the direction of robotics, and we also do a lot of work in the medical field.
