Please tell us a bit about Innoviz and why you were at Sensors Expo.
Innoviz is a leading provider of cutting-edge LiDAR remote sensing solutions designed to enable the mass commercialization of autonomous vehicles. The company’s LiDAR products deliver superior performance at the cost and size required for mass market adoption. Available now, InnovizPro offers unrivalled angular resolution at the highest frame rate of any LiDAR solution currently on the market.
The company’s automotive-grade LiDAR, InnovizOne, will be available in 2019 and was selected by BMW for series production of its autonomous vehicles in 2021. Headquartered in Israel, the company was founded in January 2016 by former members of the elite technological unit of the Israeli Defense Forces with renowned expertise in the fields of electro-optics, computer vision, MEMS design and signal processing.
Innoviz is backed by strategic partners and top-tier investors including Aptiv (Delphi Automotive), Magna International, Samsung Catalyst, SoftBank Ventures Korea, 360 Capital Partners, Glory Ventures, Naver and others.
We decided to participate in Sensors Expo in order to continue showcasing our technology, expanding our customer base and building up our sales pipeline, as well as for networking with colleagues.
Were you showcasing a particular product or service?
LiDAR is essential to enabling fully autonomous vehicles. Existing solutions suffer from major shortcomings such as performance, cost, size, reliability and more. Innoviz’s major technology breakthrough is providing a unique, solid-state LiDAR solution that delivers the highest automotive standards for safety, performance and reliability - all at affordable prices required for mass market adoption. There is currently no other LiDAR product in the market that competes with our product.
InnovizPro is the company’s first product, which is available now for purchase directly from the company. It provides exceptionally high frame rate, combined with its high angular resolution and wide field of view, enables it to create a dense 3D point cloud with high accuracy. Meanwhile, its long detection range of up to 150 meters allows it to see with precise clarity at distance.
Innoviz is continuing to improve upon its industry-leading scanning performance with the introduction of InnovizOne, the company's built-in, automotive grade LiDAR for levels 3 - 5 autonomous driving, even in varying weather, light and driving conditions as well as in multi-LiDAR environments. Samples of InnovizOne will be available in 2019.
What makes your products unique?
Innoviz’s solid-state LiDAR technology leapfrogs other LiDAR systems to deliver groundbreaking 3D sensing at a significantly lower cost than other devices. We are the only solution currently available on the market that meets the industry’s requirement for LiDARs of high performance, maturity, safety, reliability, quality, cost, size, availability and has market validation.
InnovizOne was recently selected by BMW to provide the LiDAR for series production of its autonomous vehicles starting in 2021 -- marking the first design win of solid-state LiDAR for series production of autonomous vehicles.
What application areas do your products cover?
Innoviz’s technology enables direct access to the most advanced, reliable and affordable LiDAR technology available for the mass commercialization of autonomous vehicles. OEM’s and Tier 1’s can use InnovizPro to test and develop their next-generation autonomous vehicles.
In addition, automotive companies such as shuttle services, mapping solutions and others, who are in great need for an advanced LiDAR solution, can now purchase InnovizPro. We are looking to tap into additional markets, including industrial automation, security and surveillance, logistics, unmanned aerial vehicles as well as others.
