VEGAPULS 6X is specifically designed for level measurement of bulk solids, and always provides precise readings, even in dusty conditions. Neither dust in the silo nor build-up on the antenna have an effect. This radar sensor’s focusing is unrivaled at a frequency of 80 GHz.
How Does It Work?
Excellent signal focusing allows use even in confined spaces. Image Credit: VEGA
VEGAPULS 6X operates with a transmission frequency of 80 GHz. Its antenna features an aperture of 75 mm. More certain and reliable measurements are achieved with a beam angle of just 4°, and the focused 80 GHz beam simply avoids any internal installations and build-up on the vessel wall.
A radar beam with 26 GHz also reflects from fixtures, struts and buildup. A radar beam with 80 GHz reflects only from the measured medium. Image Credit: VEGA
The Benefits
- Due to better focusing, setup and commissioning is considerably easier and more user-friendly
- Higher measurement certainty over the entire measuring range is enabled due to the improved focusing.
Detecting Very Small Signals Reliably
VEGAPULS 6X sets new standards. It can measure even the tiniest of reflected signals because of its large dynamic range, and this ensures even higher levels of measurement certainty and reliability for media with good reflective properties, like coal, ore or rocks.

The Benefits
- There is a broader range of applications for all bulk solids, regardless of their reflective properties
- Thanks to the large dynamic range, a universal measuring method can be used.
Performance Reserves Included
The performance capability of the entire system is indicated by the system’s measuring range. Even at a distance of 120 m, VEGAPULS 6X can detect poorly reflecting bulk solids reliably, due to its particularly good signal focusing and high dynamic range.

The Benefits
- High performance over small measuring ranges
- It is ideal for very high tanks or silos
- Up to 120 m for level or distance measurement
Applications
Cement Silo
Cement is stored in tall silos before further processing. The cement is transported both in and out of the silo via pneumatic conveying. By employing accurate level measurement, point level detection, and monitoring the pneumatic conveying system pressure, efficient storage and transport of the product is guaranteed.
