It is not very clear whether Geiger counters can be used for detecting radon. The Radalert 50, Radalert 100, Inspector Alert and Inspector do not measure radon gas specifically, however experiments that use the Radalert in a controlled environment with different radon gas.
Detection of X-rays is done using Geiger counters but it may not be able to measure the dose rate. This is due to the fact that an X-ray is a concentrated short burst radiation. Events are individually ionized in its Geiger tube and a Geiger counter measurement is performed.
Certain Geiger counters especially previous designs need calibration for making sure that the readings are accurate. The instruments from International Medcom include innovative design techniques and high-quality components.
In this interview, Prof. Pelagia-Irene Gouma talks to AZoSensors about her work on a novel nano-sensor based asthma monitoring device.
