This kind of gesture control for electronics could soon become an alternative to touchscreens and sensing technologies that consume a lot of power and only work when users can see their smartphones and tablets.

NASA's Extreme Weather Monitoring Satellite Carries Ball Aerospace-built GMI Instrument

The Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Microwave Imager (GMI) successfully launched on NASA's GPM Core Observatory satellite from Tanegashima Space Center, Japan at 1:37 p.m. EST on Feb. 27, 2014. The satellite flew onboard an H-IIA launch vehicle.

TEGAM Awarded Patent on Novel Microwave Bolometer Design

TEGAM, Inc., a leading supplier of innovative RF power measurements, was recently awarded Patent No. 8,610,069, “Coaxial to Dual Co-Planar Waveguide Launcher for Microwave Bolometry.” This patent describes a new way to construct bolometers—a type of microwave power sensor that uses thermistors—that makes them more accurate and easier to assemble.
