e2v, a leading global provider of high performance imaging solutions, has signed a contract worth €2.8M with Astrium, Europe’s leading space technology company. e2v will supply imaging sensors to equip the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Sentinel 4 Ultraviolet Visible Near-infrared (UVN) instrument, which will gather data on the quality of the Earth’s atmosphere and its chemical composition from geostationary orbit.

Raytheon Company's 3rd Generation Forward Looking Infrared (3rd Gen FLIR) Improved Target Acquisition System (ITAS) and fire control successfully achieved proof of concept in a series of laboratory and field tests. Preliminary evaluation of the impact of firing all versions of the TOW missile was also performed.

An EPFL student has developed a video analysis algorithm able to estimate the level of a driver’s fatigue based on the degree of eyelid closure. PSA Peugeot Citroën, a project partner, has built a prototype in order to test it in real driving conditions.

Coherent’s New Laser Power Sensor Enables Measurements at Points Deep Within Instruments

A new “meterless”and ultra-slim laser power sensor from Coherent Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) is configured to enable measurements at points deep within instruments and between closely spaced components. This is possible because the PowerMax USB WandUV-VIS Sensor consists of a 10 mm diameter silicon detector mounted on the end of a 6" long wand that is only 0.2" thick at its end.
