Sony to Increase Production Capacity for Stacked CMOS Image Sensors with 105 Billion Yen Investment

Sony Corporation (“Sony”) announces that it plans to invest in Sony Semiconductor Corporation (“Sony Semiconductor”) in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016 (“FY15”) in order to increase its production capacity for stacked CMOS image sensors*1. Sony Semiconductor also plans to reorganize and optimize its production sites as it accelerates the shifting of resources to the image sensor business.

Sensors Unlimited, a UTC Aerospace Systems business, has introduced its fastest 2k pixel shortwave infrared (SWIR) line scan camera. The GL2048R camera is specially-designed for applications in spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), making it an ideal component for imaging the retina and choroid, the blood vessel below the retina.
