NEXT Biometrics Group ASA announced it has received an order for 5,000 fingerprint sensors as the first piece of a contract expected to last several years, with an estimated volume of 100,000 sensors per year, from an undisclosed U.S. company customer developing new category sensor products based on NEXT-Enabled segments.
The order follows NEXT's recent receipt of an order valued at $100,000 (or 820,000 Krone NOK) for its high-quality NB-3010 fingerprint sensor module device it calls "The Oyster," for delivery in the third and fourth quarters of 2015, the company said.
NEXT, online at www.NextBiometrics.com, offers high quality area fingerprint sensors at a fraction of the prices of comparable competitors, due to its unique patented technology.
Tore Etholm-Idsoe, CEO of NEXT Biometrics, the leader in high-quality low-cost fingerprint sensors, said, "The orders from top tier clients in the U.S. reflect the market's growing acceptance of NEXT technology resulting in excellent fingerprint sensor devices at a fraction of the price competitors would charge."
The NEXT CEO did not disclose details of the newest order. Regarding the recent order from another U.S. client company, he noted that "The Oyster" is a turnkey solution designed for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 and is compliant with and certified by Microsoft for Windows Biometric Framework, with support for other operating systems available on request. "The Oyster" fingerprint sensor serves as a reference design, where customers can experience proof-of-concept at a low cost, and is a high-end product targeted at logon for notebooks and tablets, e-commerce, file and folder encryption, password container and virtual private networks (VPN).
NEXT's range of six fingerprint sensor modules are excelling in real-life circumstances and NEXT Sensors are reliable against dirt, grease and various conditions such as wet and cold fingers. Volume quantities of the USB sensor are available through NEXT's world-wide distributors.
