Seek Thermal, creators of heat-seeking tools to help save time, money and lives, announced today that its debut, award-winning line of Compact thermal imaging cameras is now available in Europe for both iPhone and Android smartphone users.
The Seek Thermal Compact and Compact XR imaging cameras enable anyone to benefit in their day-to-day lives.
Up until now, thermal imaging cameras cost thousands of dollars and were primarily used by firefighters, law enforcement and the military. "Seek Thermal wants to make thermal imaging technology simple to use and accessible to all for the benefit of everyone, not just a few," said Mike Muench, CEO of Seek Thermal. "By introducing to the European market the first consumer-ready thermal imaging technology, which is portable, compact and affordable, we are giving millions of people a powerful smart tool and personal safety device at their fingertips."
Seek Thermal recently hosted BBC's flagship technology show BBC Click at the company's offices in Santa Barbara, CA. The special, which is airing on BBC Click and BBC World News, gives viewers a first-hand look at the technology that is bringing thermal imaging to all.
The Seek Thermal Compact imaging cameras contain an advanced thermal sensor and custom chalcogenide lens to capture, detect, and translate heat into a thermal image that's visible to the human eye. The pocket-size thermal camera operates with a free app that makes it easy for people to get started with thermal imaging, capture or share thermal photos and videos, select from different temperature measurement modes, and see the unseen. Now, this military-grade technology makes it easier than its ever been to master home energy problems, conquer the outdoors and stay aware of the situations in the day time or complete dark. The camera weighs only 0.5 ounces and creates true thermal images with a resolution of 206 x 156, or over 32,000 thermal pixels, and turns your smartphone into a smart tool.
Timed with the launch in Europe, the Seek Thermal Compact and Compact XR imaging cameras will be featured at the upcoming IFA Berlin 2015 consumer electronics trade show with the company's distribution partner Kondor in Booth Hall 4.2 / Stand 104. Press and media can also demo the products at the Pepcom DigitalFocus Event at IFA on 4 September 2015.
The Seek Thermal Compact imaging camera for iOS and Android sells for €299.00 (£224.00) including VAT. The new Seek Compact XR has a variable focus lens and extends the distances up to 1,800 feet with a narrower field of view to 20-degrees and is available for both iOS and Android devices for € 349.00 (£259.00) including VAT. Both products are now available at Amazon throughout Europe. The free Seek Thermal mobile app is also localized on the App Store and Google Play for each country.
