TI Introduces Crypto Connected LaunchPad Development Kit Based on TM4C129ENCPDT MCUs

Addressing the critical need for security in the Internet of Things (IoT), Texas Instruments (TI) today announced the TM4C Crypto Connected LaunchPad development kit to speed design of IoT gateways and nodes, factory control and automation systems, grid infrastructure, alternative energy and industrial applications.

Based on TI's TM4C129ENCPDT microcontrollers (MCUs), the low-cost TM4C Crypto Connected LaunchPad development kit offers a fully available 120-MHz ARM® Cortex®-M4F core with security functions offloaded to hardware accelerators to provide the performance needed for customers developing applications requiring a secure cloud connection.

Transport Layer Security assists development of secure connection to the cloud
The out-of-box demo for the Crypto Connected LaunchPad (EK-TM4C129EXL) includes TI-RTOS, which supports development of multitasking applications to help customers develop products requiring an easy and secure Internet connection to the cloud. Pair the TM4C Crypto Connected LaunchPad with WolfSSL software to quickly send encrypted data over on-board Ethernet and view in your browser. Designers also have access to a complimentary download of TI's Code Composer Studio™ integrated development environment (IDE), an intuitive programming interface and debugging tool.

TI LaunchPad development ecosystem offers easy-to-use development environment
The TM4C Crypto Connected LaunchPad provides a low-cost, encryption enabled and easy-to-use evaluation platform. The TI LaunchPad Development Ecosystem offers the hardware, software and community components needed to enable quick and easy design. TI's BoosterPack™ plug-in daughter boards add functionality to explore different applications.

Features and benefits of the TM4C Crypto Connected LaunchPad

  • Advanced security features for data encryption and decryption include on-board Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), Data Encryption Standard (DES), Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) accelerators to increase performance in secure connected applications. Additionally, WolfSSL library utilizes these crypto hardware accelerators to allow a secure SSL/TLS connection with the cloud server.
  • Extensive communication options include abundant sensor connectivity peripherals, 10/100 Ethernet MAC & PHY, full- and low-speed USB 2.0 port with in-circuit and external debug connectors, as well as the option to add Wi-Fi® connectivity using the low-power SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi CC3100 BoosterPack.
  • Comprehensive suite of software tools designed to simplify and speed development, including TivaWare™, and TI-RTOS-based out-of-box demo for a secure IoT cloud connection.

Pricing and availability
The TM4C Crypto Connected LaunchPad (EK-TM4C129EXL) is now available for USD $24.99 through the TI Store and authorized TI distributors. Find compatible BoosterPacks for the LaunchPad on TI's BoosterPack page. TivaWare software and TI's Code Composer Studio IDE are available for immediate download.
