A unique miniature sensor will help manage heart ailments which will tremendously decrease the flow of patients to the hospitals. The advanced sensor is as minute as a paper clip and will detect heart failure.
According to Ayesha Hasan cardiologist, Ohio State University Medical Center Columbus, the novel sensor monitors pressure impulse and is positioned in the pulmonary artery.
The pressure sensor monitors the fluid accumulation and patients have to lie down on a sensor embedded mat which provides the fluid level information which is passed on to the doctors.
Hasan stated that by simply logging on to the system, information can be obtained regarding the pressure variations of the day and daily adjustments can be based on the doctors’ comments.
This system allows daily monitoring or checkup even without going out of the home. The doctors will inform the patients about the heart ailments, if persisting, by seeing the mails and can opt for medications at home itself without being admitted in the hospital.
The examination results which have been recently released indicated a 38% decline in the patient hospitalization level with the deployment of sensors in heart failure assessment and the sensors do not require replacement or removal after a year’s use.
