908 Devices’ M908 Handheld Mass Spectrometer Wins Multiple Industry Awards

908 Devices, a pioneer of purpose-built analytical devices for chemical analysis, is honored to announce that it has won three prestigious industry awards that honor innovation and technological prowess. The company’s flagship product, M908™, received the NCT CBRNe Product Award by IB Consultancy, was named as one of the top 100 Analytical and Test products by R&D Magazine’s R&D 100 award, and was recognized as the Best Chemical Detection Product or Solution in the Homeland Security Awards by Government Security Magazine.

NCT CBRNe Product Award
The NCT CBRNe Awards, presented by IB Consultancy, recognized M908 with the Product Award this year, the most prestigious accolade given by the organization. The Product Award recognizes overall excellence in the CBRNe community. After being named as a nominee in 2014, and going on to establish itself in the industry as the definitive user-friendly state-of-the-art handheld mass spectrometer, the judging panel felt that M908 could not be more worthy of recognition for the gap it fills in the first responder toolkit. 908 Devices is honored that M908 and the detection capabilities that it makes accessible to military and emergency workers has received this recognition.

R&D 100 Award
The R&D 100 Awards, sometimes referred to as the “Oscars of Invention,” recognize the most significant proven technology advances across industry, academia and government-sponsored research and development in the past year. Since 1963, the R&D 100 Awards have identified revolutionary technologies newly introduced to the market. This year M908 was recognized for its unique capabilities within the Analytical/Test category.

Homeland Security Awards
The Homeland Security Awards, presented by Government Security Magazine, is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious awards programs covering the broad Homeland Security field. The award recognizes homeland security technology vendors, federal, state, county and municipal government agencies for their work and innovation dedicated to keeping American citizens safe. 908 Devices’ M908 was named as the 2015 Best Chemical Detection Product or Solution in industry.

“We are so honored to have our technology recognized by these three organizations, all judged by diverse panels, though all shared the same dedication to thoroughness in their evaluations. We are proud of our work with those who serve in emergency services, military and law enforcement – who each need accurate, reliable and actionable intelligence for the detection of chemical threats,” said Dr. Kevin Knopp, CEO and Co-Founder of 908 Devices. “Addressing that need, we have harnessed the powerful capabilities of mass spectrometry into a handheld device with a commitment to dramatically change the way these threats are detected and identified. These awards are further validation of our traction in delivering on that commitment.”

About M908
M908 is a chemical detection tool that is handheld, battery operated and ten times smaller and lighter than any other commercial mass spectrometer device. 908 Devices’ revolutionary High Pressure Mass Spectrometry (HPMS™) technology enables M908 to operate much closer to atmospheric pressures than conventional mass spectrometry systems using patented, micro-scale ion traps in a package designed for MilSpec ruggedness and reliability.
