IDOT to Test Novel Speed Sensors for Road Construction Project

The Illinois Department of Transportation will be testing an innovative speed sensing technology as a part of its forthcoming road construction project in southern Illinois.

The targeted site will be the Interstate 57 northbound road from the Franklin and Jefferson county line to the north. The transportation officials at Illinois mentioned that they will be employing the advanced equipment for integrating the speed sensing devices inside and outside the construction site.

The Carbondale newspaper from southern Illinois published that computers will be deployed for speed computations to determine the duration of travel across the construction area.  The state officers reported that heavy traffic in the targeted location demanded the implementation of the new technology.

The state police force will be posted in the construction zone for continuous speed monitoring and mobile phone utility.
