INDECT USA, the parking industry’s leading provider of sensor-based parking guidance systems, today announced the completion of an ultrasonic parking guidance installation at the Dallas Omni Hotel and Convention Center in downtown Dallas.
The Dallas Omni Hotel is the first and only hotel in the USA to offer their guests parking guidance. Installed as part of the $400 million Dallas Convention Center redevelopment, the new parking guidance system will directly benefit convention center visitors as well as hotel guests.
“The Omni Hotels and Resorts group specialize in sophistication and luxury,” said Dale Fowler, Director of INDECT USA. “They know what they want – they want the best. So after viewing the parking guidance system at DFW airport, they came directly to us.”
“The whole system went from conception to installation in five weeks. It was by far the fastest installation we’ve completed to date,” he said.
The parking guidance program features the installation of 347 parking sensors as well as a network of LED signs informing drivers how many open parking spaces are available and where they can be found.
“First impressions are important,” said Mr. Fowler “For many guests, the parking garage doubles as the hotel lobby as it is the first thing they experience when they arrive.”
The sensors are located above each parking space, offering a clear view to drivers of where open spaces can be found, and what type of parking is permitted in an individual space. Different colors indicate each space’s status: green for available, red for occupied, blue for ADA, and white for one-hour parking. The lights are clearly visible from several hundred yards away and LED signs at the end of each driving aisle also indicate how many spaces, and what types of spaces, are available in each parking aisle.
“The sensors eliminate the frustration of having to drive throughout the garage looking for a parking space. Hassle-free parking guarantees that a visit to the Omni always gets off to a good start.” said Mr Fowler.

The sensors also provide important management benefits by collecting data about lengths of stay, occupancy and usage. This information can then be used to establish parking management strategies to better serve hotel guests and visitors to the adjacent convention center.
Typically, busy garages only experience 90% to 95% occupancy. This can cost parking owners and operators thousands of dollars a day in lost revenues. The INDECT parking guidance system eliminates this unnecessary loss by encouraging parkers to enter the garage even when it outwardly appears to be full.
