Canon has claimed that they have advanced the largest CMOS image sensing device, ever, equipped with a larger chip measuring 202 mm x205 mm size.
The latest CMOS devise has the largest chip which is manufactured from 300mm or 12-inch wafer, and is about 40 times larger in size than the largest CMOS commercial sensor of Canon.
The novel model allows image capturing even in dim-light by collecting more light, by virtue of its enlarged size . Image capturing is made easy by the sensor since the amount of light required by it is only one in one-hundredth the amount needed by a complete frame of 35mm size CMOS sensing devise. This enables the video capturing of 60 frames each second with an illumination in the range of 0.3 lux intensity.
The effective application of the highly sensitive CMOS device covers the video shooting of night sky stars and the nocturnal behavior of animals.
