PharmRight Corporation, a healthcare technology company that empowers people with complex medication regimens to live independently; and Zipit Wireless, a pioneer in connected platform and managed services solutions, announced today their joint development partnership in support of PharmRight's Livi™ medication dispensing system.
A new entrant to what is being called "The Internet of Healthy Things," Livi™ can store and manage a 90-day supply of up to 15 oral solid medications. It is designed to provide internet-enabled remote monitoring and management of an individual's medication regimen prompting them to take the right medication at the right time.
A secure and robust cloud application, developed by Zipit Wireless for PharmRight, monitors and captures all user interactions with Livi™, sends mobile alerts to family members and professional caregivers of missed doses or re-fill requests, and encrypts communications between the cloud infrastructure and Livi™. Comprehensive medication adherence reports are provided to improve collaboration between an individual and the care team.
The Zipit IoT platform also provides Livi™ with internet connectivity on a nationwide U.S. cellular network thereby ensuring a simple setup process free from the complexities of connecting to a home network.
Bill Park, President and CEO of PharmRight, said "Our vision is to empower individuals to live more independently than ever before, while providing next generation tools to enable caregivers to provide better care. The Zipit platform accelerated our time to market and reduced the complexities of bringing a secure, Internet-enabled device to market."
Frank Greer, CEO of Zipit Wireless, said "There is no better example of the power of the Internet of Things to solve real world problems than PharmRight's Livi™. We are excited to be a part of this program and help it come to fruition."
