Acuity, a pioneer in control solutions and energy efficient lighting, is all geared up to open a new training centre in Wallingford CT, at its Sensor Switch facility.
This facility was created mainly to highlight and exhibit the latest Acuity’s intelligent LED lights and control solutions, and to offer training for Sensor Switch business partners and clients. Here a wide array of sensors along with interactive training with occupancy sensors and also daylight harvesting solutions can be seen with the central point of attention being nLight, an Acuity network lighting control system that has won awards.
According to Sensor Switch Value Stream Leader and Vice President, Ben Hahn, training plays a very important role, in accepting and utilizing the emergent and new technologies, in the lighting industry. The facility exhibits lighting products, to entice customers to buy them, and also stresses on the amount of savings possible when such intelligent and energy efficient lighting products are used. The facility showcases lighting systems such as ROAM, having outdoor lighting controls; Peerless with indirect lighting luminaries; and Lithonia lighting RTLED luminaries, having built-in light controls. Cost effective ways of reducing energy consumption are provided by Sensor Switch’s advanced occupancy sensor and daylight harvesting products. Almost 40% energy is saved. To detect if a given space is occupied, Sensor Switch uses passive Infrared (PIR) and microphonics technology, which when merged with nLight systems, help consumers in controlling the lighting in a room, or a complete building, or even an entire campus. Being easy to install and configure, nLight provides a stylish and low cost method of employing lighting control systems in a given space.
Steve Lydecker, Acuity’s Senior President (control & systems), stated that with the new technology changing the lighting scenario, the lighting industry has become an exciting set-up, and Acuity stands in the forefront of all this transformation. LED lighting solutions have been accepted whole heartedly, and the training given by Sensor Switch facility for end-users will be of great significance. The company plans to hold two day training sessions on a regular basis, on the nLight systems and the standard occupancy and daylight sensor lighting systems.
