Paessler AG, a global supplier of network sensing and testing solutions, proclaimed the launch of a new version 8 PRTG Network Monitor offering a re-structured web interface, Google map support, native Linux monitoring and fail-over clustering.
The PRTG’s cluster operation provides fail-proof network detecting facility. The miniature-HTML web interface is particularly re-configured for Blackberry, iPhone, Android and other Windows supported Mobile devices. The improved Google Maps will show the geographical maps and the innovative ‘Maps’ option will provide network displays. The historic information can be accessed live and the environments can be inspected using Xen, Amazon, HyperV, Cloud Watch and VMware. A secure warning system is furnished by means of SMS, instant messenger, pager message, HTTP request, email, syslog, etc. Various novel senors and probes are integrated in the system for identifying the networking systems and the xFlow sensing device is included for measuring through the sFlow or the NetFlow.
Paessler’s version 8 licensing model is made easy with the elimination of add-ons. With PRTG the network can be checked easily without spending money for the optional characteristics since all the sensing parameters and operations are included in the licenses with the introduction of numerous sensors. This inturn will avoid the necessity of complicated installation process or the design of add-ons.
The software of the version 8 model has over 80 different types of sensors for checking the email servers, databases, websites, VoIP applications and necessary environments. By employing seven novel sensors, the version 8 is capable of testing the Linux and UNIX platforms.
A maximum of four cluster nodes are integrated in the new version with an independent database for every node for observing the data and for providing a constant backup for the PRTG design.
