A major conference was conducted by West Wireless Health Institute (WWHI) on Health Care Innovation Day at the Ronald Reagan Building with the Officials of the Department of Veterans Affairs, health care industry leaders, and Government officials coming in to discuss wireless health care solutions.
The focus was on cost-effective wireless technological innovations wherein the participants were able to interact with public and private fund givers, ground-breakers in the wireless health industry and also government officials.
WWHI has announced a prize of $10000 for the creation of an original wireless sensing system that would link the patients to the Veterans Health Care Provider while focusing on some recognized veteran health problems such as polytrauma. Applicants must bear in mind WWHI’s task of reducing health care expenses by using wireless technology. This challenge was issued to draw attention to and encourage involvement in the VAi2 (Veterans Affairs Innovative Initiative).
According to Don Casey, CEO of WWHI, the meet lured in around 300 policy makers and business leaders, all interested in knowing more about low-cost innovations that would effectively reduce health care expenses. Entrepreneurs, start-up companies and recognized companies, all had their say along with the policy makers, giving and receiving expert guidance on how to recognize and make use of the opportunities that lay ahead. Participants also learnt more about the VAi2 program, with its $100 million funds. They gained knowledge as to how to use the funds in health sector, to enhance quality, access, cost and performance for the veterans.
W. Scott Gould, a keynote speaker, and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, stated that the whole of the veteran community would be gaining a lot, if wireless technology is integrated with health care. He further said that VAi2’s goal was to find viable solutions to ease the lives of the men and women who served America and Americans. The other keynote speakers and panelists featured in the meet were, Dr. Joseph Smith, WWHI’s Chief Medical and Science Officer, Todd Park, Chief Technology Officer, (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) and Dr. Peter Levin, Chief Technology Officer, Department of Veterans Affairs.
