CMOS Linear Image Sensors from Hamamatsu

Hamamatsu Photonics is releasing a broad series of CMOS linear imaging sensors for analytical equipments such as industrial process measurement devices and spectrophotometers.

CMOS linear imaging sensors

The advanced S11105 range sensor presents ultra-fast output with 50 MHz frequency range. This pixel information range is accomplished employing a unique output video array, different from traditional fast CCDs that utilize numerous output video sequences or taps to perform speedy functions. Apart from the rapid-speed output readings attained at 50 MHz, the S11105 sensors integrate an electronic shutter operation to enable precise ultra-fast imaging. This latest device features 512 pixel resolution having a 12.5 ìm pitch resulting in a 20:1 aspect proportion, permitting 20 folds light accumulation area in comparison with the traditional linear CCDs.

This innovative sensor has 512 autonomous photodiode materials with digital shift register, buffer amplifier and signal processing circuitry all configured on the same rigid silicon chip. The significant clock generation functionalities are included on-chip, thus facilitating the  system fabrication process and installation. The specific series can be obtained in two flexible enclosures encompassing the surface integration and  the  dual in-line (DIL) options.

These unique devices serve a wide range of applications in mobile spectrometers, in-line product inspection, medical diagnostics, colour identification, industrial process control, blood analysers, optical scanners, distance measurement, water pollution analysers and optical encoders.
