Goodrich Delivers EO-R Sensors for ORS-1 Space Mission

Goodrich has incorporated its electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) sensing payload in the space shuttle bus for deployment in the ORS-1 satellite. The ORS-1 is the initial satellite that has been used in the functionally responsive space mission for promoting Combatant Command operations.

Goodrich, the prime systems supplier for the ORS-1 mission, is also delivering a terrain segment that lays out the information from the sensor payload for downstream operations, utilization and communication.

The ORS-1 space shuttle bus, designed and manufactured by ATK Space Systems, is developed based on the company’s TacSat-3 bus. The spacecraft will furnish a multiple-spectral imaging potentiality to facilitate the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) programme of the US Central Command. The installation will be followed by the acceptance and environmental trials for the successful launch of the satellite in the fourth quarter of 2010.
