Novotechnik has launched its novel TIM Series, a contact-less, rod-style, linear position sensing devices, for incorporation in pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders. The TIM sensors can be fixed easily in-cylinder at one end and can be joined to the other end using a threaded flange on the rod or a plug-in flange.
The screw-plug hole is with a diameter of M18 and the plug-in flange is about 48 mm in size. A pick-up position marker with a magnetic field is attached on the piston rod of the application.
The TIM range sensing devices can be obtained from stock with stroke lengths ranging from 50 mm to 2,500 mm. For large volume purposes, a custom-made length is provided by the company. These devices are functional under a pressure with a maximum of 350 bar with thresholds up to 530 bar. The device possesses 100 g shock and 25 g vibration ratings.
The repeatability of the sensor is in the order of ±0.01% in complete scale irrespective of the length of the stroke. The system exhibits a resolution of 5 µm with an additional 1 µm resolution based on the requirement. The full scale autonomous linearity range is of ≤0.04%.
The traverse speed and acceleration of the pick-up marker is not restricted and TIM Series shows durable and reliable mechanical life. Various interface options are also available as cable, plug or lead wire.
