Embraer’s Super Tucano light attack turboprops will be launched in the Asia pacific Region for the Indonesian Air Force. Embraer has been offered a contract to provide eight Super Tucano light attack turboprops, by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense for use in the Indonesian Air Force mission.
As part of the contract, the company will be delivering terrain support stations and an in-built logistics unit and will start the supply in 2012, stated the company.
According to Orlando José Ferreira Neto, Executive Vice President at Embraer, they are highly honored to supply their innovative system for the Indonesian Air Force. He added that the Super Tucano, is an excellent light attack trainer turboprop, which is being deployed in five major air forces and will be now serving Indonesia’s defense mission.
This aircraft will be substituting OV-10 Broncos series by its sensitivity to execute a wide series of projects encompassing surveillance, light attack, counter insurgence and air- to-air interception.
The Super Tucano is configured to serve military applications and will be functional from unpaved runways. The unparallel weaponry potentiality of the aircraft features various exterior services involving traditional and air-to-air missiles, laser-enabled bombs and other systems.
The aircraft also features Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensing devices with secure radios and laser designator having datalink transmissions.
The airplane is configured with an improved weapon aiming and navigation intelligent weapons, even under disastrous environments. The aircraft needs only limited logistical facility for constant performance.
