Many of the companies based in San Diego, developing intelligent networks, have been offered federal awards for the successful accomplishment of their projects.
On-Ramp Wireless Company in San Diego has been offered $2.1 million grant for a $2.8 million scheme to develop and test wire-free sensing solutions for evaluating the circuits that have been integrated underground. The company will be monitoring the sensing devices integrated on the transmission network developed by San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Edison. On-Ramp Wireless has already devised numerous systems to relay the information with each other.
San Diego-based EDSA is a member of the group guided by Boeing to construct an intelligent network that is capable of rectifying the distortions in the grids by itself and operate by solar panels embedded on the rooftop. This $10.4 million project has been offered $6 million grant for facilitating the operations. EDSA creates software which the experts utilize for constructing complex electrical solutions and deploys this expertise for the development of sensing applications.
The Energy Department has declared three other intelligent network awards worth $19 million.
According to Steven Chu, Energy Secretary, these advanced schemes will improve the security, performance and resource diversity of the country’s electric network and the enhnacement of smart-network technologies will satisfy users demand and will facilitate saving power consumption, enhance energy operations and boost the development of renewable energy resources.
The smart grid technology deploys information technology to advance the generation, transmission and usage of electricity.
