New Microsoft Kinect Sensor Creates lightsaber Image

A novel Microsoft Kinect sensor has been developed by a computer programmer. The sensor can modify any type of objects into the Star Wars lightsaber.

The programmer has utilized a broom handle to determine the fabled sword, which in turn is detected by the Kinect's motion sensing devices.

An image processing software and drivers were used with Kinect's motion-detecting software to create a lightsaber image. Many other users have also configured the system to perform improved tracking operations, for instance for regulating a robot.

According to Don Mattrick, President of interactive entertainment business at Microsoft, the Xbox Kinect will market five million units this year, surpassing the previous estimation of three million.
