Samsung Nexus S Systems to Examine Capabilities of Sensors in Space

The research experts at Google have launched seven Samsung Nexus S systems into the space for examining the working efficiency of the phones at more than 30,000 meters in the sky. The specialists fabricated boxes using beer coolers for the safe transportation of the phones by means of a helium weather balloon.

These phones were fixed with the imagers in them to be projected out through lucid plastic to get a picture of how it works on the space, by looking through the camera phone. The experiment was carried out for evaluating the performance of the sensor integrated in the phone, in freezing cold weather near the vacuum.

Google has also plans to align with a satellite fabricator in UK for developing miniature commodity satellites that operates on the core Nexus S technology. It was stated that the experimentation with the phone has proved successful and that a total of six systems have been recovered till date.
