Goodrich announced that it has entered into a deal with Mitsubishi Aircraft for the supply of ice detectors, data sensors, and windshield heat controllers. Goodrich will offer these devices for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) aircraft line. First flight-test hardware will be delivered to Mitsubishi Aircraft in mid 2011.
The Goodrich ice detectors alert flight crews about ice build-up to activate the ice protection system of the aircraft. The windshield heat controllers are internally mounted and they assure that the windshield is free of ice and condensation. The heat controllers also help to save power by regulating the level of power supply.
The flight-critical air data sensors, from Goodrich, are part of core capabilities of the company, used across military and commercial aircraft applications. The complements of sensors include digital angle of attack sensors, pitot-static probes that are aerodynamically compensated, and total air temperature sensors.
The business development director of Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems, Chris Cojocar, stated that by supplying these devices, the company is offering optimized solutions to enhance the operational and performance economy of the next generation regional aircraft of Mitsubishi.
