SunWater Announces Non-Stop Monitoring Program for St George Dam

The St George's Beardmore Dam is now under 24-hour surveillance, as SunWater has launched a surveillance and monitoring program. All the 12 gates of the dam are open having 250,000 megalitres of water passing through daily. SunWater, which is accountable for running the dam, reports that it is inspecting the water flow from the dam continuously.

The company said that though the amount of water in the dam is not greater than the flood experienced last year, the dam is under constant surveillance. The surveillance program allows the company to observe all the gauging stations, check the dam sensing devices, and monitor the dam and its related infrastructure. The program also helps in operation of the gates.

All the sensing units and gauging stations controlled by the company are in proper working condition. The dam inspection and monitoring program involves checking the river gauges and dam sensors placed around the catchment area.
