Radars and Collision Sensors to Feature in Smart Cars

The new smart cars will automatically contact emergency services if it is involved in a road accident due to the sensors fitted into it. It will relay details on the gravity of the accident and the number of persons involved.

According to Steve Wainwright, a manager at Freescale Semiconductors, future models of cars are going to be the most computerized tool humans will use in their daily lives. Already, cars are being equipped with almost 28 electronic gadgets fitted into them/ Luxury cars on the other hand have around 80 of them. The new smart car resembles a tiny computer and is power efficient and controls stability in the vehicle.

Research is presently being carried out to customize the technology to suit individual driver requirements. Future features in smart cars will be radars and collision monitors.

Electric cars, which are going to be increasingly seen on roads across the globe, will be used only for short journeys, and the computerized technology will come in more useful by giving the driver information on how much power is still available for him and how far he will be able to proceed. Technology being developed currently, will allow cars on the road to exchange information on weather conditions, visibility and incidents of accidents on the road ahead. The US and Europe are already reserving radio wavelengths to help smart cars chat with each other.
