Microsoft’s Kinect motion sensor controls the Xbox 360 gaming console and in such a similar manner, the PCs can also be regulated using the gestures.
Asustek Computer and PrimeSense, an Israeli firm, whose three-dimensional imager is an essential part of Kinect, is developing a methodology to allow the users gestures for checking social networks, surfing the Web, and regulating videos on their PC or a TV linked to a PC.
Kinect employs depth sensors, a three-dimensional camera, and voice-recognition software for distinguishing voice, face, and gestures while travelling, without holding a controller or wearing a headset. Thus on-screen characters can be regulated in video games easily by moving the body.
Asus and PrimeSense focuses on providing motion controls on PCs by employing an accessory known as the WAVI Xtion, coupling an Asus user interface with 3-D technologyof PrimeSense.
