iPad Robot to Clean Homes

The robotics team at iRobot has incorporated an iPad into a robotic body to evolve an AVA. The company that earlier developed the Roomba and Scooba robotic cleaners has now introduced the AVA or Avatar’.

The robot measures five feet tall and is equipped with three-dimensional sensors that help avoid collision with objects in its path. It also has laser, sonar and PrimeSense sensors that enable creation of a location map of the house or office it is programmed to clean.

The iPad or Android based tablet, is located on top of the unit.  The iPad can also be deployed for video conferencing, viewing the location map or various applications that are designed specifically for the iPad. The AVA will be deployed to be remotely controlled to follow orders in cleaning the house or office.

AVA has been conceived as a concept and is meant to reveal the immense possibilities that can unfold with these robots.
