A venue management firm, Global Spectrum, has launched new initiatives to transform the UCF Arena into a green facility. Global Spectrum is based in Philadelphia and has over 90 facilities spread across Canada and the U.S.
The firm also owns a number of companies in the service industry such as Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Flyers, among others.
New eco-friendly measures will be implemented in the arena that will range from green cleaning products to new parking facilities. A number of ambient light sensors will also be deployed in the service areas. The sensors will be able to detect the amount of natural light and will adjust the lighting of the building to eliminate undue lighting. Moreover, only those products and solutions will be purchased that will contain the green seal certification or are made from 100% recycled materials.
In fact, to reinforce the green initiative, the arena will offer reserved parking spaces to hybrid vehicle users and to those who choose the carpool option.
Arena’s Director of Marketing, Melissa Schaaf, stated that the new initiative will help in preserving the University’s natural surroundings and will prove equally effective in reducing expenditures.
