AOptix’s InSight Iris Recognition System Integrated with Aware’s URC and BioSP Software Products

Aware Inc and AOptix Technologies have integrated the InSight 2 meter iris recognition system of AOptix with the BioSP and URC software products of AWRE.

Iris image captured at 2 meters distance with the AOptix InSight iris recognition system.

This deployment solution offers compatibility between the Automated Biometric Identity System (ABIS) of the Department of Defense (DoD) and the InSight system utilizing the EBTS 1.2 standard.

The InSight system that functions at a nominal 1.5–2.5 m range is able to automate completely the iris biometric image acquisition process and offers consistent authentication of the identity of a subject within 2 s. This system utilizes very innovative enhanced optics technology for finding the eyes and the face of the subject automatically in a large capture volume that exceeds .75 m3, rendering effortless verification of the subject.

The usability feature helps the system to be deployed easily in a corporate environment by virtue of its elaborate utilization of open standards for web services and biometrics applications.

The Universal Registration Client (URC) application from Aware offers a customizable, intuitive user interface to automate enrolling of fingerprint, face, and iris images, along with biological information. Integration with the service-oriented biometric application server, the Biometric Services Platform (BioSP) from Aware has enabled biometric record formatting that is compliant to EBTS 1.2, along with standardized communications. This enables users from the DoD to derive complete benefits of the enhanced capabilities of the AOptix InSight for a range of application settings, as well as  complete guarantee of compatibility with the ABIS database of the DoD. AOptix estimates growth in DoD’s deployed biometrics, since DoD is among the biggest users of biometrics technologies and products worldwide.

The solution will be showcased at the Identity Protection and Management Exposition at the Minneapolis-based Hilton Hotel during April 12 to 15, 2010.
