High Temperature Sensors for Harsh Oil Well Environments

The 500F (260C) ‘HT’ high temperature gauge by Zenith Oilfield Technologies was recently tested successfully at the site of an ESP well located in the Arabian Gulf.

Details of this development were made public at the   Middle East Artificial Lift Forum,( MEALF), held in Bahrain. The device can track steam flood production wells that have been lifted by Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) through injecting, soaking and production of the steam cycle. It has been tested at 247°C.

The company will unveil its XT system for extreme temperatures at  MEALF in February 2011. This system will operate at 500°C. Before 2007, current electronic gauge technology had extended only to 175°C, with both the instrument and cable exhibiting short life span. This issue has been answered with the new solution that incorporates not only the instrument, but tougher encasing and cables as well. The company will unveil the system at  MEALF.
