Radar System for Coastal and Border Surveillance

Cassidian, a defense and security subsidiary of EADS, has launched a security radar for surveillance of boundaries or sensitive industrial facilities.

Cassidian's SPEXER 2000

The SPEXER 2000 will be showcased at the International Defence Exhibition IDEX to be held in Abu Dhabi. 40 systems have already been incorporated into border surveillance systems.

The product will be designed fur use in specific applications. A smaller variant SPEXER 1500, when combined with a variant designed specifically for coastal surveillance called the SPEXER 2000 Coastal, will be launched later in 2011. Other variants designed specifically to be used in the surveillance of sensitive and crucial facilities will also be launched.

The SPEXER 2000 uses advanced radar technology of Active Electronically Scanning Array (AESA) that uses the electronic steering feature of the radar beam to facilitate the sensor to complete multiple tasks simultaneously and enhance sensing skills.

The sensing capability has been designed on the lines of numerous Transmit- and Receive Modules that have already been designed and produced by the company.
