Boeing to Develop Sensor Subsystem for US Marine Corps

The US Marine Corps has awarded a demonstration contract to Boeing to design and display a sensor subsystem that will be used in the common aviation command-and-control systems.

The solution will endeavor to incorporate the data received from multiple sensor sources. The approximately $5 million contract will be valid for one year.

The company has declared that its Phantom Works division situated in California will showcase its solution to the US Marines at the end of the year over a live demonstration event to be held at Camp Pendleton in California. Other solutions included in the contract include an analysis of transportability, the design and construction, and the sensor components.

According to Darryl Davis, president of Boeing Phantom Works, the solution will be a single module that will capture air, ground and radar images  and signals in an endeavor to improve awareness and knowledge of troops across both the US armed forces divisions. It will also enable authorities to take joint decisions.

The Marine Aviation Command and Control System is a fully incorporated air and ground war monitoring solution. The design can be expanded for future versions, while its open structure can be seamlessly incorporated into both existing and forthcoming command and control solutions deployed by the US armed forces.
