Yamaha to Begin Mass Production of YAS530 Triaxial Geomagnetic Sensor IC Chip in April 2011

Yamaha proclaimed that it will commence the mass production and delivery of YAS530 triaxial geomagnetic sensor IC for tablet PCs and smartphones in April 2011.

The new triaxial geomagnetic sensor IC has broad a range of applications in navigation and games. The dynamic range of the YAS530 is 300% is more than the existing YAS529. The pin compatibility reduces energy usage and provides greater resolution. Yamaha plans to design compact products to minimize the mounting area on the printer circuit board.

Using legacy products with auto-calibration software, Yamaha can offer both support and technical support services for various operating systems and geomagnetic sensor IC chips, respectively, while addressing clients’ needs and simplifying the design process for OEMS and ODMs.

By producing high-performance devices for small packages, Yamaha intends to meet the requirements of the rising geomagnetic sensor IC chip market. The company also plans to employ sensor-fusion software technology to support numerous sensors.

In July 2005, the company delivered the world's smallest triaxial geomagnetic sensor IC chips, YAS529. The sensor has a favorable standard in portable navigation and GPS compatible mobile systems. There is a growing demand for geomagnetic sensors in tablet PCs and smartphones for location-based services applications and shipments are increasing rapidly.
