SELEX Galileo and Insitu Pacific have formed a strategic partnership to integrate the sophisticated high-resolution synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) PicoSAR of SELEX Galileo into the Integrator Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).
The UAS will feature ground moving target indicator technology and PicoSAR’s active electronically scanned array to offer maximum-resolution SAR imagery present on any UAS used today.
Andrew Duggan, Managing Director of Insitu Pacific, stated that the Integrator UAS will offer unmatched functional adaptability to military forces. He added that current generation of sophisticated SAR platforms fly at greater heights but incur high operating costs, resulting in short supply. He added that the latest SAR technology can be quickly applied by the warrior on the Integrator at a nearby range to targets for superior quality and detection of changes in all weather conditions.
The Integrator UAS is a strategic vehicle that does not need landing strip to retrieve or launch. It was exclusively developed for quick payload incorporation.
Bob Mason, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, SELEX Galileo, expressed his happiness in working with Insitu Pacific to meet the requirements of the Australian Defence Force and to assist the ground military troops. He added that the PicoSAR offers a novel SAR/GMTI ability to the battle ground that will significantly improve the abilities of the currently used sensors.
The PicoSAR is compact and weighs 10 kg. It has a minimum-power payload and utilizes latest signal processing technology to build superior quality SAR images that are previously viewed only in bigger SAR payloads.
