The U.S. Army is looking for companies who have the ability to build reconnaissance, surveillance, and target-acquisition (RSTA) components for its Cerberus mobile sensor suite tower.
The self-sufficient tower is 50-foot-tall and can be relocated. It is designed to detect and assess terrorist attacks during day and night time.
The Cerberus mobile sensor suite tower has perimeter ground radar for detecting and tracking attackers, staring cameras for video motion detection, and unattended ground sensors for covering zones and foliage that cannot be penetrated by the radar. The motion-detection software triggers an alarm on detecting any motion in the coverage area and offers an image of the target. For data and command flow, the sensor tower utilizes a two-way wireless link. The tower can detect motion up to a distance of 300 m and multiple towers can be networked to increase the area of coverage.
The U.S. Army is inviting responses from companies interested in supplying wireless radios, day and thermal imagers, batteries, fuel cells, radar, electronics for RSTA capability and human interface hardware.
