Exergen, manufacturer of infrared thermometers, sensors, controls and scanners, has been awarded a new patent for its Temporal Artery Thermometer, the TemporalScanner.
The 7,787,938 patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office strengthens and safeguards critical developments in non-invasive thermometry.
The CEO of Exergen, Dr. Francesco Pompei stated that competitors may possibly like to use the new innovations in the thermometer, and strong patent protection was needed to protect the company’s rights over the technology.
Exergen has acquired 10 patents in the U.S. for the TemporalScanner home versions and 15 patents for the professional versions. Over the years, the company has filed lawsuits to prevent competitors from infringing its intellectual property rights to infrared technology for measuring temperature.
Exergen has currently filed lawsuits against Kidz-Med, Tecnimed S.R.L and American Scientific Resources for patent infringement.
