SkyBitz announced that it is now part of the DASH7 Alliance. DASH7 is a non-profit industry syndicate whose mission is to promote the usage of ISO 18000-7 (DASH7) standard for wireless sensor networking.
Dash7 is essentially a wireless sensor technology that was born out of the radio-frequency and sensing technologies in the defence industry. SkyBitz will be working with 50 other organisations across the globe to promote the use of the DASH7 technology through the DASH7 alliance and incorporate it into its various other products. A membership with the DASH7 Alliance provides access to the latest developments around the DASH7 technology and also a chance to exchange ideas and views with other members.
Craig Malone, who is the Senior Vice President of the Product Development in SkyBitz, sees the membership as a opportunity to share Skybitz’s expertise and play a vital role in the future of wireless sensor networking. He noted that through DASH7 Alliance member companies will aid each others growth and work towards setting high global standards. The SkyBitz Galaxy series GTP2000, used in supply chain challenges would be the first to incorporate the DASH7 Technology. The data got from the RFID tags will be combined with data from other locations using SkyBitz’s web based application. The use of RFID technology enhances the accessibility of data in supply chain management and also gives a good visibility of chain of custody and the cargo information.
Patrick Burns, the President of DASH7 Alliance was positive of SkyBitz contribution to DASH7 technology. He added that their membership would definitely intensify the efforts to make DASH7 a global standard for wireless sensor technology.
