Powercast, a company specializing in RF-based wireless power and energy solutions, declared that it has launched Lifetime Power Wireless Sensor System that can be used to observe environmental conditions in HVAS building and control automation.
The company’s advanced technologies reduce the dependency on batteries and enable the use of sensors in remote areas. The Lifetime Power Wireless Sensor System renders high system efficiency in applications relating to building automation and power management.
The wireless sensor system comprises three components such as a range of battery-less sensor nodes, a TX91501 Powercaster transmitter and a WSG-101 Building Automation System (BAS) Gateway. The sensor nodes are integrated with the company’s Powerharvester receivers to enable wireless operation.
The WSN-1001 Wireless Temperature and Humidity Sensor is the first product developed by Powercast. More wireless sensor systems to measure motion, level of illumination, CO2, pressure and other conditions will be developed soon.
According to Powercast, a wireless sensor system that operates without a battery could result in 40%-50% of cost savings when compared to the cost of installing wired controllers and sensors for constructing automation systems. Battery-less sensor systems will eliminate the need for future maintenance as users do not have to face the difficulty of replacing or disposing batteries.
