Goodrich Supplies ORS-1 Satellite with SYERS-2 Multi-Spectral Sensor

Goodrich, a major supplier of services and systems to homeland security, aerospace and defense markets, declared that it has successfully completed the pre-ship review of the Operationally Responsive Space-1 (ORS-1) satellite. The company also announced that the satellite will soon be shipped to Wallops Island Flight Facility.

Goodrich has supplied a sensor payload, consisting of SYERS-2 multi-spectral sensor, for the ORS-1 satellite. The SYERS-2 multi-spectral sensor is the main imaging sensor installed on the U-2 reconnaissance plane. ATK Space Systems developed a bus for Goodrich to be used in the ORS-1 spacecraft. The image information obtained from the payload sensor is formatted from a Goodrich ground segment to synchronize with exploitation, dissemination infrastructure and downstream processing for the SYERS-2 multi-spectral sensor.

Goodrich Vice President, Andreas Nonnenmacher stated that constructing and delivery of a complete satellite within a short duration is a significant feat. He added that the company collaborated with DOD’s ORS Office and Air Force to aid the operations of Central Command.
